NFT Artist: UPYO’s Cancelation of Fees on NFTs Trading Tempting
Reem Al-Rawi, a well-known NFT artist, affirmed that Arab NFT platforms should educate artists to encourage them to join the NFT space and hold digital collectibles to increase demand for their digital artworks.
Speaking to UPYO in a podcast, Rawi pointed to increasing awareness and easy access to information related to digital art, noting that traditional artists started the conversion of their artworks into digital art.
The NFT world is new for Arab artists, she underlined, believing the necessity of their participation to enhance their footprint in this field. According to her, the spread of Arab NFTs could impact the global NFT industry. According to her, there is a thirst in the digital market for a new art expression unlike what is popular and Arab art has the opportunity for setting up a broad audience.
The NFT artist pointed out Arab NFT platforms suffer from a lack of knowledge of the basics of holding NFTs and how to benefit from them, adding that Arab artist is afraid of entering the world because of a lack of attention to this domain in the Arab world.

She described UPYO’s cancelation of fees on trading NFTs as so tempting, saying UPYO is a very good example of offering simple and easy procedures for NFT buyers and sellers. She also affirmed the importance of educating the artists, a matter which UPYO does already. According to her, Arab governments should invest in the blockchain and NFTs, as it encourages research and understanding.
She pointed to her participation in the MENA exhibition in Bahrain after releasing her first NFT, King Meso, followed by Queen of Meso, which is available on UPYO’s NFT marketplace.
She also said that the future of NFTs in the Arab world is in progress and more knowledge is gained by people and institutions, especially the younger generation, who is more enthusiastic to invest in this field.
Arab NFT artists should express their beliefs and experience in their digital artworks, she noted, urging them to show their identities through the NFTs as art is an ambassador for the Arab identity.
Rawi is a Canadian artist and university professor of Iraqi origins. Her artwork mixes traditional with digital heritage inspired by Arabic heritage. She released her first NFT collection in 2022 and participated in several galleries worldwide, including two virtual ones.
