Roblox Adds XRP As New Payment Method

Roblox, an online gaming platform with over 200 million monthly active users, has recently announced that they are now accepting XRP as a payment method.

The announcement was made by BitPay on October 17 via X, which was previously known as Twitter. The integration of XRP as a payment option has been made possible by Xsolla, a global video game startup that manages in-game payments for Roblox.

BitPay will serve as the facilitating partner to ensure seamless integration with cryptocurrency wallets. Roblox is accessible across a range of mainstream platforms, including Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

It boasts a daily active user base of 65.5 million, with nearly 44% of these users being under 13 years old. In the first quarter of 2023, Roblox users spent almost $773 million on in-game purchases, highlighting the platform’s profitability.

Xsolla is a startup that provides tools and services for game developers worldwide. Since its establishment in 2005, the company has helped developers market, launch, and monetize games on various platforms, enabling them to reach a broader audience.

Xsolla’s ultimate goal is to help its partners expand globally, increase revenue, and develop new relationships with leading gamers by addressing challenges in worldwide game distribution.

In 2014, Xsolla partnered with BitPay to process BTC payments for gamers worldwide. Since then, the two companies have continued their partnership, with Xsolla accepting various cryptocurrencies supported on BitPay.

Recently, BitPay announced that Xsolla would be one of the first merchants to accept PayPal USD (PYUSD) for online transactions, allowing users to purchase products using the stablecoin, starting in September 2023.
