Yuga Labs, the creator and developer of famous NFT collections such as Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and CryptoPunks, announced that it would drop a collection of NFTs upon its multi-year partnership with Gucci, the Italian luxury fashion house.

Yuga Labs said that the new Gucci collection will blur the boundaries between the physical and digital. The fashion giant designed a limited edition necklace designed for the physical and digital worlds. Named the “KodaPendant,” Gucci’s silver pendant will drop on April 6, according to Cointelegraph.

The physical chain itself is 50cm long, with a Koda-shaped pendant engraved with GG. While the digital edition comes in the form of NFTs dubbed “Otherside: Relics by Gucci,” as it will consist of 3,333 KodaPendants in total on sale for 450 ApeCoin, Yuga’s native cryptocurrency, for each one. They will be offered on Otherside, Yuga Labs’ ape-themed metaverse game.

KodaPendants will only be available to current holders of Koda or Vessel NFTs. According to Yuga, KodaPendants will unlock unique cosmetic options for Otherside avatars. The holders of KodaPendants can claim a real, physical piece of jewelry from Gucci later this year as a physical KodaPendant will be rolled out for each NFT.

The physical pendants will be available to residents of countries like the US, Canada, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Japan, and many European countries.

In a statement, Yuga Labs said: “Throughout our extensive partnership, we will work together to engage Voyagers in immersive experiences at the intersection of fashion, entertainment, and technology.”

This is not the first time Gucci joined the Web3 world. In March 2022, it launched 10KTF Gucci Grail. It is a unique NFT collection envisioned by Alessandro Michele and crafted by digital artisan Wagmi-san.

On October 27, 2022, the Italian fashion house also announced its first event in the metaverse on The Sandbox, the digital real estate platform on October 27.

Under the name of Gucci Vault Land, Gucci became the first luxury fashion brand to have its own space on The Sandbox, cementing its footprints in the metaverse.
