SC Ventures, the investment arm of Standard Chartered, and Japanese financial conglomerate SBI Holdings have partnered to create a cryptocurrency vehicle worth $100 million in the UAE.



The joint venture aims to invest in various crypto sectors, including decentralized finance, tokenization, infrastructure, payments, and the metaverse, covering seed to Series C funding rounds with a global investment focus.



The crypto market shows signs of a potential bullish sentiment, with Bitcoin currently trading at around $36,800, reflecting a year-to-date gain of over 120%.



Considering the market dynamics, SC Ventures and SBI Holdings are positioning themselves strategically in the crypto space. Notably, spot crypto trading volume on centralized exchanges increased in October after a four-month decline. This could indicate renewed interest in crypto, possibly in anticipation of the approval of a spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) early next year.



SC Ventures and SBI Holdings&#8217; joint venture plans to make strategic and minority investments in crypto startups. They will utilize SC Ventures&#8217; expertise in digital assets, including experiences with ventures such as Zodia Custody and Zodia Markets and previous investments in fintech firms like Ripple and Metaco. It&#8217;s worth noting that SC Ventures sold its stake in Metaco in May after Ripple acquired the company for $250 million.



CEO of SC Ventures Alex Manson said: &#8220;The Joint Venture will leverage SC Ventures&#8217; experience in digital assets through our ventures, such as Zodia Custody and Zodia Markets, and our investments in fintechs like Ripple and Metaco.&#8221;



SBI Holdings plans to launch a fund by the end of the year to invest up to 100 billion yen ($663 million) in web3, AI, and fintech startups. The fund will have the support of several major Japanese financial institutions, including Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Mizuho Bank, Nippon Life Insurance, and Daiwa Securities Group, who have pledged to invest over 50 billion yen in the fund.

Dubai-based Web3 startup Cultos Global has announced that it has raised an undisclosed amount in its ongoing funding round.



The investment comes from senior corporate professionals, including Founder and CEO of boAt Lifestyle Sameer Mehta; Tarun Katial, a media tech veteran and Founder and CEO of web3-based social crypto platform for women Coto; Finance Head at Fractal Analytics Ashwath Bhat; and&nbsp;&nbsp;Vijay Ratnaparkhe, a software industry veteran and Head of Bosch Southeast Asia.



According to an official statement, additional angel investors have joined Cultos Global&#8217;s existing supporters based in San Francisco. The company aims to revolutionize the way brands interact with customers.



In this regard, Co-founder of Cultos Global and Chief Commercial Officer Adib Samara said: &#8220;Cultos Global is reshaping brand-customer engagement by introducing an elegant, unified platform that seamlessly combines digital marketing and customer rewards programs, transforming passive consumers into a network of active nano-influencers.&#8221;

The funds raised will support the expansion of Cultos Global&#8217;s product and engineering teams in the UAE and India and the development of new platform functionalities.

The third generation of the internet, known as web3, gained wide popularity in the Arab region. Prominent Arab persons began to enter web3 in light of its gradual shift. One of these eminent persons is the famous entrepreneur Ghizlan Guenez.&nbsp;



Who Is Ghizlan Guenez?&nbsp;



Guenez is an Algerian entrepreneur, who is living in Dubai. She graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science with a bachelor&#8217;s degree. She started her career by working in the financial resources field for over 10 years.&nbsp;



Shift to Fashion&nbsp;



After being in the domain of financial resources for over 10 years, Guenez decided to shift to fashion after noticing that Arab women laboriously find elegant and modest clothing at the same time.&nbsp;



Hench, Guenez set up her first fashion project named &#8220;The Modist&#8221; in conjunction with International Women&#8217;s Day in 2017. The Modist is an online shopping site specializing in showing and selling modest clothing for women. The site has succeeded in attracting large investors and international brands in a very short period.&nbsp;

Guenez decided to enter the web after achieving great success and meeting Arab women&#8217;s needs. She entered web3 from a different gate as she wanted to educate women on the third generation of the internet, especially the non-fungible tokens (NFTs).&nbsp;



She said, in a video on Twitter, that women&#8217;s volume of sales in traditional art markets is 50% lower than that of men, adding women&#8217;s artworks in the field of NFT represent only 16%, while their sales represent 5% of the total sales.



She attributed these incompatible figures to an old-fashioned belief which claims that technology is dominated by males. Therefore, Guenez decided to change this perspective and make a radical change by announcing her NFT project called &#8220;Queen Mode.&#8221;&nbsp;



What Is Queen Mode?&nbsp;



Queen Mode is an NFT collection that consists of 9,999 NFTs of women wearing different styles of crowns. Using this collection, Guenez aims to create a community of like-minded women in which they can connect and elevate each other.
